It's time to indulge in some shameless fawning over station wagons-as is our nature. The 2018 Volvo V90 is on display at the 2017 Detroit auto show, and the R-Design version finished in an eye-catching blue called Bursting Blue Metallic is one of the most fetching wagons in recent memory. Best of all, it'll soon be available in the United States. So we took a bunch of photos of it. To our eye, the V90 is already the most appealing member of Volvo's very attractive 90-series lineup, which also includes the S90 sedan, the XC90 SUV, and the V90 Cross Country (essentially a raised V90 with some extra body cladding). The R-Design package takes things to another level with its sharp five-spoke wheels, tasteful body kit, and slightly different front grille. Its gorgeous interior gains plenty of silver trim, an R-Design steering wheel, and sport seats.
R-Design models also have a slightly lower ride height and stiffer suspension tuning to go along with the sportier look. The one on display was a T6 AWD model, meaning it's powered by a turbocharged and supercharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder making 316 horsepower. Volvo hasn't yet said whether it'll offer the R-Design package on the front-wheel-drive T5 model, which makes 250 horsepower from a turbo-only version of the same engine.
